Draw this in your style: artwork
In 2019 I discovered a challenge that took place each October on instagram. It is called Art in October. The challenge consists on making a reinterpretation of artworks featured on their list. I made a few prompts from their list and soon discovered I really enjoyed doing this kind of illustrations where you don’t have to worry about motifs or compositions, you just need to translate an original image into your very own visual language.
A couple of years after the first challenge I participated in I made my own one through my collective animation project Papaya Queen. After reading The Story of Art without Men by Katy Hessel I learned from a bunch of female artists I had never heard of. I organized a prompt list featuring only female artists and invited fellow illustrators not only to reinterpret artworks but also to portray the artists behind them.
These illustrations show the evolution of my art from 2019 to this day. Starting from ink drawings and 3D illustrations imitating every single aspect of the original artwork to illustrations in which I try to experiment a bit more and going away further from the original.
